Infrared heaters raise body temperature that means your heart responses differently to the temperatures. But the pacemaker will not be able to identify the cause of such change and response in a way that may damage your heart only. The malfunction in the pacemaker may lead to cardiac arrest. Too much infrared heat will destroy your pacemaker in ways unimaginable.

The device that makes the heart beat is the pacemaker and as the name says it, it helps the heart beat at a normal rhythm. We all have natural pacemakers in our heart regulates the amount of blood pumped in and out of it. However many a times it so happens that our normal pacemaker is unable to do its job and this is where an artificial pacemaker is required.

An artificial pacemaker works just like the natural pacemaker of the heart and makes the heart beat at a pace as considered necessary by the cardiologist. These pacemakers are extremely sophisticated instruments and they work by sending electrical impulses in the heart that makes it beat it return. Most pacemakers can be monitored externally by trained cardiologists and depending on individual requirements and necessities, the pace is adjusted by them.

The first patient to have an artificial pacemaker in her heart was a man named Arne Larson. Today sophisticated implantable pacemakers are implanted with the help of a surgery. An incision is made on the left collar bone of the patient and the pacemaker is introduced inside the body. The pacemaker is fixed to the heart with the help of leads and a fluoroscope is used to make sure that the pacemaker has been fixed at the right place. A local anesthesia is used during the surgery and painkillers and antibiotics are administered to avoid any infection.
